Dr. Oby Nwabuzor

Founder & Principal,
Envision Growth

Dr. Oby Nwabuzor is a first-generation Nigerian American leader working at the intersection of public health, real estate development, and systems innovation. She serves as Director of Social Drivers of Health Strategy for the Advocate National Center for Clinical and Community Impact, where she leads enterprise-wide efforts to reduce gaps in life expectancy and wellness for underserved communities. Her work focuses on scalable strategies in affordable housing, food security, and employment—positioning the Center as a national leader in addressing non-clinical drivers of health.

Dr. Nwabuzor is the founder of Envision Growth, a public health–driven real estate development firm building healthy people and communities through intentional investment in the built environment. Her career includes major public health achievements in Wisconsin, such as securing over $1.7 million in funding for SNAP access, healthy food retail, and walkability improvements, as well as an appointment by the Governor of Wisconsin to the Wisconsin Public Health Council, where she advises on statewide health strategy.

She also serves on the boards of the Malaika Early Learning Center and the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation for the City of Milwaukee. Her recognitions include the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and Executive to Watch, the Wisconsin Law Journal’s Diversity in Business Award, the UNCF Milwaukee Mastermind Honor, and the MCW Graduate School’s Underrepresented Scholar Award

As the maternal granddaughter of Chief David Oguntoye of the Ilerio Ruling House of Imesi-Ìlè, and a descendant of royal lineages across Yoruba and Ika communities, Dr. Nwabuzor is grounded in a legacy of land stewardship and generational leadership. In Yoruba tradition, the title Omooba (“child of the king”) reflects a call to lead with vision, protect dignity, and build for the collective good. That lineage continues to shape her worldview, voice, and work across sectors.

Dr. Nwabuzor holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Applied Public Health Practice and Leadership from the Medical College of Wisconsin and an MBA in Business Strategy from Cardinal Stritch University. More than a title or role, she sees herself simply as a vessel.
