James Holland
President,
I-NOMA
James Holland, AIA, NOMA, LEED AP is a seasoned architect and development strategist with over two decades of experience spanning design, construction management, and real estate development. As President of the Illinois Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), James leads with a commitment to equity, innovation, and professional excellence in the built environment.
Mr. Holland began his architectural career at William E. Brazley and Associates, one of the nation’s foremost Black-owned architecture and design-build firms. His trajectory has since encompassed leadership roles including design, construction, and client representation, with firms such as McShane Construction Company, Comprehensive Construction Consulting, Arcadis US, Mercy Housing (Mercy Portfolio Services), and SP Murphy. His portfolio includes projects totaling more than $400 million in construction and development. He is well-versed in a range of delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Construction Manager at Risk (CM@R), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). Along with his role in NOMA, Mr. Holland is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Chicago Council on High Rise Buildings (CCHRB) and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).
James holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinoism Urbana-Champaign and continues to shape the future of architecture through strategic leadership, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a deep commitment to community impact.
