Jeffrey J. Dowd, CPA, is a partner in CohnReznick’s Chicago office with more than 40 years of experience providing audit, accounting, tax, and management advisory services to the real estate industry, both privately held and publicly traded, and to not-for-profit organizations. Jeff’s clients include developers, real estate funds, mortgage companies, management companies, investors, and government agencies. His clients operate anddevelop hotels, multifamily rentals, office buildings, nursing homes, and retail buildings. Jeff has extensive technical and practical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), and OMB Circular A-133. Jeff assists affordable housing developers with structuring tax-advantaged real estate developments,including the Federal Historic Rehabilitation Credit, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), energy taxcredits, and other federal and state subsidized multifamily housing.

Jeff’s extensive experience includes the development of internal control systems for a wide range of clients and developing compliance manuals for not-for-profit entities receiving large financial assistance from HUD. He has participated in the initial public offering of what is now the largest residential real estate investment trust in the United States. Jeff has performed public speaking engagements for the Illinois Housing Development Authority, Informational Management Network, and CohnReznick sponsored conferences. A few of his clients include Muscular Dystrophy Association, National Equity Fund and several of the largest affordable housing developers in the country.
